Duels and combat
The pet radial includes Challenge and Moves & character. A dog does not need to be called before opening these screens. Duels use one selected adult dog per player; puppies cannot enter the roster or learn combat moves. The server owns move legality, random outcomes, damage and XP. Needs and persistent pet health do not become duel energy.
Player flow
- Challenge a nearby owner (within 8 m by default). Each player needs at least one living, available adult dog.
- Accept within 30 seconds, choose up to three dogs for the roster, inspect the opponent's roster and privately select one fighter. Roster and pick stages each last 60 seconds.
- Choose a legal learned move each round within 20 seconds. Both choices are resolved on the server and played back as an ordered action sequence.
- Review the result and earned XP. A forfeit, aborted scene or round limit does not award XP.
Three consecutive missing choices end the duel without XP. A simultaneous knockout can be a draw. After 40 rounds, no XP is awarded. The server limits repeated ranked fights between the same owners in a rolling 24-hour window: full, half, then no XP. Swapping dogs does not reset that owner-pair limit.
Progression and character
Each dog has a server-assigned combat character, a legal move set, total XP and a derived level, capped at 30. Leveling unlocks moves; the move screen shows the available library and lets the owner choose a valid four-move set. These records remain attached to the owned pet through growth and reconnects. Obedience training and food do not change the duel rules.
Staff testing
/petfighttest starts the normal roster/pick flow against a random server-selected NPC dog. It awards no XP and writes no ranked result. /petfightdebug opens the local animation studio to preview attacks and reactions with temporary dogs; it is a visual diagnostic and also gives no progression. Both commands use configured staff groups. A browser or offline test cannot confirm live movement, contact, animations or networking; test a real two-player duel in FiveM.
