First steps

Buy starter equipment, recover a first find, use the album, sell items and try the other search methods.

Visit Equipment & Finds

Go to the dealer near the Vespucci docks at -758.67, -1522.25. Use the interaction shown beside the NPC, normally E, or your configured target interaction.

Buy the starter tools

Buy a Rusty metal detector and an Old shovel. Their default base prices are 150 and 50 in the configured account. Both are separate inventory items. A general equipment discount can reduce these prices.

Follow the detector signal

Use the detector from your inventory and walk over suitable ground. Try an open sandy area or grass rather than a paved street. Move towards the stronger signal; advanced direction and distance assistance depend on learned skills.

Recover the find

At the strongest signal, use the shovel from your inventory to switch tools. Follow the on-screen digging control, normally the left mouse button, and complete the shovel strokes. Cancelling does not award the item or reroll that location's find.

Check the album and skills

Return to the dealer and open Find album to see the discovery. Open Skill tree to inspect your detector and general progress. A skill purchase uses points from its own tree, and equipment unlocks still require a separate purchase.

Sell selected finds

Open Sell finds. Uncheck any item types you want to keep, review the included items and confirm the sale. Selling an item does not remove its recorded album discovery.

Try the other methods

ActivityFirst attempt
Magnet fishingBuy a Basic magnet set, use it on foot at a suitable bank, aim at valid water and use the displayed cast control. Stay near the cast origin while reeling in.
DivingBuy a Basic scuba set, equip it on land and enter suitable water. Approach a highlighted find, hold position through recovery and watch the air supply. Refill at the dealer.
Searching binsPut away active equipment, approach a supported bin and use its search interaction. An empty result is possible and still counts as a completed search.

Use the controls displayed in the HUD. X is the default stow or cancel key, F9 toggles detector/shovel sound, and Escape closes the shop. See Commands for binding details.

Check persistence

After completing an activity, reconnect and reopen the shop. The album and earned progression should remain. Scuba air is saved per character and gear tier; reconnecting or switching sets does not refill it. A depleted search location also stays depleted until its refill time.
