Magnet fishing
Magnet fishing uses a magnet set from the inventory. Stand on foot at a suitable bank, aim at valid water and use the HUD's cast control. The cast shows the magnet, rope and recovered object.
Casting and recovery
The default cycle takes 20 seconds: 3 seconds to cast, 5 seconds to sink and 12 seconds to haul. Stay close to the cast origin. Cancelling, moving too far away or entering an invalid state ends the attempt.
Use a bank within reach of the water. The default cast needs at least 3 metres of range and allows up to 5 metres of height above the target. Skills improve reach and recovery capabilities. Inland water and the sea use different reward pools.
A completed cast leaves an 8-metre area unavailable to that character for 10 minutes. This is personal depletion, so another player's fishing history is separate. If the inventory cannot receive the prepared find, the delivery window is 30 seconds; make room and retry using the displayed action before it expires.
Magnet sets
| Set | Base price | Maximum find tier |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 200 | 2 |
| Standard | 600 | 3 |
| Premium | 1,200 | 5 |
The Basic set is available initially. The Standard set requires magnet_pull_2; Premium requires magnet_pull_3. See Inventory items for their item IDs.
Equipment and skills both matter. The table shows the equipment's limit, not an automatic unlock of that find tier. A better set does not grant the corresponding knowledge skills.
Skills and finds
The magnet tree has 12 skills costing 21 points in total. Its paths improve casting, pulling, discovery and access to higher tiers. magnet_water_2, magnet_discovery_1 and magnet_discovery_2 open find tiers 2, 3 and 4. magnet_master_1 opens tier 5 and requires both magnet_pull_4 and magnet_discovery_2.
The 13 default magnet finds include a bicycle frame, boat anchor, steel cable, padlock, handcuffs and the Heart of the Star. Successful finds award magnet and general progress and count towards the shared album.
Configure equipment and the interaction in config/magnet.lua; configure reward pools, weights and sale prices in config/magnet_server.lua. Custom water boundaries belong in config/water.lua.
