Updating

Update an existing Fire Job installation while keeping station settings, inventory items, and custom configuration.

Before replacing files

  1. Read the Fire Job changelog for the version you are installing, including any required dependency updates or new inventory items.
  2. Back up your game database and the existing sky_base, sky_jobs_base, and sky_firejob resource folders. The database backup includes saved /jobconfig settings; a copy of config.lua alone does not.
  3. Download the current packages for all three resources from CFX Portal. Keep the dependencies up to date with Fire Job.

Install the update

  1. Stop the server before replacing the resources.
  2. Extract each downloaded resource into its original folder name. Install the complete resource, including stream and meta, so Lua, interfaces, models, and hose weapons come from the same package.
  3. Compare your customized open configuration files with the new supplied files. Reapply your changes while retaining any new settings required by the update. Copying an entire old configuration over the new one can discard those settings.
  4. Add any newly required inventory items and images using Inventory Items. Keep your existing custom item names aligned with /jobconfig.
  5. If automatic database updates are disabled, follow the SQL instructions in Installation. Use the same game database as before.
  6. Start the server with sky_base, then sky_jobs_base, then sky_firejob. Reconnect the test players after the server is ready.

Replacing resource files does not remove your saved Job Configurator settings. Those saved values still take priority over matching defaults in config.lua. Review them in /jobconfig if a new file default appears to have no effect; see Configuration.

Check the update with two players

Complete these checks before inviting the whole department back:

CheckExpected result
Go on duty and open station storage and the garageThe intended job and grade can use their configured station features.
Take a hose from the configured fire truckThe nozzle and hose appear, and the nearby second player can see the attack hose.
Leave the area and return as the observing playerThe active attack hose appears again without the operator having to take it twice.
Supply and spray water, then return the hoseThe configured supply works and the hose is removed for both players.
Break a window and force the matching doorThe tool appears during the action and the completed rescue state is visible to the second player.
Try the other enabled workflows your department usesAir refill, oil cleanup, and scenarios still work with your saved settings.

For a failure, start with Troubleshooting. Include the three Sky resource versions, the exact action, and the first relevant server or F8 error when contacting support. You do not need to diagnose the code yourself.
